Open a visa pathway for financially independent, retired parents of EU citizens to join their family members in the UK. Currently no dedicated route exists for EU settled status holders to bring a parent to the UK, and the retirement visa no longer exists.
EU citizens with settled status in the UK, who can either fully financially support their parent or whose parent is fully financially independent, should have the right to bring the parent to live with them in the UK. We believe thousands of families are suffering because of the non-existent possibility to provide company and/or care to a retired parent, who in turn could provide childcare assistance where needed. Retirees who pose no burden to public funds should have a visa entry route.
