I am asking the Government to introduce regulated conjugal visits in UK prisons. These visits would allow eligible prisoners in verified long-term relationships to have limited private visits with their partner under strict rules and security measures.

Current prison visitation rules make it difficult for prisoners to maintain healthy intimate relationships, which can negatively affect mental wellbeing, family stability, and rehabilitation. Evidence from other countries shows that supporting stable, committed relationships can reduce reoffending and improve reintegration. Regulated conjugal visits could benefit prisoners, families, and wider society while maintaining prison security.
