When nurses come to check children’s height and weight, we think this should include a mandatory check to see if these children have any issues with their ankles and feet - eg, having flat feet, or in- or out-toeing.
We believe feet and ankles should be checked due to their consequences on health, and if a child is to have these problems they should be allowed access to aids such as special shoes insoles and ankle braces to correct these issues. In our view, this limited measure could cause a long term decrease of strain on the NHS.
