Families who want to install solar panels still face high upfront costs. With energy bills rising and households under pressure, the Government should support people who are trying to reduce their costs and reduce demand on the national grid.
We are calling for: Income tax relief, NI deduction and permanent 0% VAT rate on all domestic solar & battery installations, similar to the incentives that helped EV gain widespread adoption. This would reduce cost by 20-45% and bring the return on investment down to 4–6 years, making clean energy affordable for ordinary families. These changes would help households save money, strengthen the UK’s energy security and accelerate progress toward net‑zero, without requiring large government grants.
