Milestones

We believe accessible housing isn't a luxury & is essential for independent living & equal participation in society. The UK cannot meet the obligations of the Equality Act or the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities without addressing the crisis of a lack of accessible housing.

• Make wheelchair accessible (Category 3) homes a mandatory requirement in all new housing developments • Set a national minimum percentage of wheelchair accessible homes for every development • Strengthen and enforce building regulations so developers cannot opt out of accessibility requirements • Increase investment in accessible social housing • Create a national accessible housing register • Improve funding and processes for home adaptations
