Children deserve to feel safe in their homes, schools and communities. Allowing convicted offenders to live close to schools or within the same town as their victims can cause fear, trauma and undermine public confidence in safeguarding measures.

Victims of abuse can experience long term trauma. Knowing their offender lives nearby can cause fear, anxiety and further trauma. Restrictions can help survivors feels safe in their own communities. Other children within the community also deserve protection. Limiting where sex offenders can live could reduce opportunities for contact with potential victims and help create safer environments around schools and youth facilities. We believe parents need confidence that that their children and safeguarded.
