I call upon the UK Government to introduce legislation requiring all motorcycles sold, registered, or used on public roads to be fitted with an appropriate speed limiter.
Currently, there are not mandatory speed limiter regulations for motorcycles. As a result, many larger-capacity motorcycles (600cc–1000cc and above) are capable of reaching speeds significantly in excess of 120mph. This exemption presents a clear road safety concern. Excessive speed is a major contributing factor in serious and fatal collisions. While speed limits are enforced, the mechanical capability of motorcycles to exceed legal limits increases the risk of high-severity accidents.
