The Government should require schools to turn off access restrictions on school devices outside of the school day. These restrictions are required through the statutory guidance Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE). We believe they should not apply outside of school grounds.

While students should not be able to use their devices for non-educational purposes in school, that should not be the case when students are at home or not in school. In many cases students have to pay for their devices, and should be considered their own property, not the school’s. Even if that is not the case the usage of the devices should not apply when they are not in school, since we believe it does not negatively impact one’s education since they aren’t even in education in that moment.
