Milestones

Introduce a total ban on raw sewage dumping to remove what we consider as the storm overflows “loophole”. There should also be a real-time warning system for every spill: location, volume, risk. Water companies should be mandated to put more of their profits into new pipes and storage tanks.

We believe that more must be done prevent human waste, chemicals, and plastics being pumped straight into places where kids paddle, dogs swim, and people fish. We believe water companies are able to make huge profits while dodging making real fixes to infrastructure. We call on the Government to take action to stop our rivers from dying: fish kills, algae blooms, dead birds. Beaches close, surfers get sick, tourists stay away. Kids can’t safely play in water we grew up trusting. E. coli, norovirus, even antibiotic-resistant bugs are now in the places we love.
