From my experience, I think type 1 diabetes needs to be tested for once a year in children and adults.

There is nowhere near enough awareness of type 1 diabetes and not enough testing. Symptoms can be missed or dismissed. I believe one blood test a year is critical to catching it early to stop DKA, complications, diabetic comas and death.
