We want the Government to create a national, ring-fenced Youth Sport Access Fund to cover club fees, equipment and competition costs for children from low-income families across all sports, including football, athletics, swimming, martial arts, dance, ballet and gymnastics.
Across the UK, rising living costs are pricing children out of sport. Many families cannot afford club fees, kit or travel. Less than half of children meet recommended activity levels, while obesity and mental health challenges continue to rise. Working in a school, I see talented children miss out daily due to cost. Access to sport should not depend on income.
