Milestones

Conduct a formal review of operational and security functions in the UK telecom's Critical Network Infrastructure. Assess whether current regulation addresses resilience risks from geographic distribution of critical roles. Report on measures to retain key telecom and cybersecurity skills in the UK.

Telecommunications underpin emergency services, defence, finance, healthcare and transport. As Critical National Infrastructure, their resilience and operational security are vital to public safety and national security. Large workforce reductions, consolidation and global delivery models may affect oversight, response capability and retention of strategic technical skills. A formal review would ensure safeguards remain robust and national capability is protected.
