The BBC is a public corporation established by Royal Charter, operating as a public service broadcaster funded primarily by the UK television licence fee. It is independent of the government but accountable to the public. As such the public should have final say on any new funding model.

Give the public the right to decide the future funding model of the BBC, from a list of options, via a referendum. This could be included as part of any national election process if cost is prohibitive or by postal ballot.
