Milestones

The Government must freeze repayment thresholds for overseas borrowers, as it has done for UK-based borrowers. Currently, UK thresholds are frozen until 2030, yet overseas thresholds change yearly, which could increase the financial burden on those living abroad.

The Government committed to freezing student loan thresholds until 2030. However, this is not the case for overseas borrowers. We believe this creates a two-tier system where some people living abroad might pay a higher percentage of their income than UK peers. Parliament should mandate that all overseas thresholds are frozen at current levels until 2030.
