Suspend fuel duty and VAT on petrol, diesel and domestic gas until the Iran conflict ends to reduce the impact of rising global oil and gas prices on UK households and businesses.
The Iran conflict has already pushed UK energy costs higher. We are concerned that a prolonged Middle East conflict and Strait of Hormuz disruptions could push prices above 2022 levels. Temporarily suspending fuel duty and VAT would help protect UK households and businesses from these rising costs.
