Milestones

We call on the Government to take action to ensure the preservation of our architectural heritage, by legally prohibiting the sale of vaping products and lithium-based batteries within listed buildings and structures over 200 years old.

We believe the events in Glasgow in March 2026 shows why this would be a good idea. In our view, given the significant historical value of these sites, the fire risks associated with lithium-ion energy density and chemical combustion pose an unacceptable threat. We think this measure prioritises structural integrity and public safety, safeguarding our most significant landmarks from preventable hazards while maintaining their cultural legacy for future generations.
