We ask the UK Government to create a national framework so every UK Armed Forces veteran funeral is offered recognition from the Armed Forces community, such as a standard bearer or veteran representative.
Many UK Armed Forces veterans are buried without formal recognition of their service. While some funerals include standard bearers or representatives from veteran organisations, this depends on local arrangements and family awareness. A national framework could help ensure every veteran's funeral receives the opportunity for recognition while respecting families' wishes. It would also help ensure families know recognition is available for those who served.
