Change vehicle lighting regulations so that when automatic headlights or daytime running lights operate, the vehicle’s rear lights must also be illuminated.
Many modern vehicles have automatic headlights or daytime running lights that illuminate the front but leave rear lights off, which can mislead drivers into thinking their lights are fully on. In poor visibility such as rain, fog or dusk, vehicles without rear lights are hard to see from behind. I ask the Department for Transport to require automatic lighting systems to activate both front and rear lights to improve road safety
