We call on the UK Government to allocate dedicated and protected funding for speech and language therapy services within (SEND) education budgets, ensuring that children with developmental delays receive the support they need to communicate, learn, and thrive.
Thousands of children across the UK experience speech and language delays or communication difficulties linked to developmental conditions. However, many families face long waiting lists, limited specialist staff, and inconsistent support across local authorities. In many specialist schools and SEND settings, speech and language therapy is underfunded or difficult to access. Early intervention can dramatically improve outcomes for children with communication difficulties.
