Milestones

We want the Government to fund private, face-to-face, one-to-one support for all terminally ill patients so that they can have help to organise their financial and legal affairs as part of palliative care, with access to appropriate support and referrals.

Many terminally ill patients are not given a safe, private space to discuss their wishes at the end of their life. We believe important decisions may be made in front of others or not supported at all, and written information alone is often not enough when people are overwhelmed or unwell. In our view this can result in wishes not being clearly expressed or recorded, leaving decisions to others who may not know what the person truly wanted, causing avoidable distress for families.
