I would like the Government to change the rules on benefits for veterans so that they continue to be entitled to benefits regardless of any medical compensation they receive from the MoD, for example for loss of hearing or other disability.
The reason I am bringing this up is because veterans can lose benefits if they get money from the MoD as compensation for hearing loss and injuries which they got for serving the country. At the moment if you are on benefits such as UC and ESA and you win, let’s say, £30,000 for hearing loss, you lose UC and ESA. We believe the rules should be changed so that if we get compensation from the MoD it does not affect the benefits we get.
