We call on the Government to offer free meningitis vaccines to all irrespective of age. Recent university-linked cases show there is an ongoing risk. Many over 25 remain unprotected despite exposure in higher education settings. Universal access would prevent deaths and reduce outbreaks.
We want the Government to act because certain types of meningitis can become life threatening in under a day, yet the protection offered to the public is uneven. Current policy leaves many at risk despite clear public health benefits of wider coverage. Expanding vaccination would prevent serious illness, reduce long-term NHS costs and strengthen resilience to outbreaks, ensuring fair protection for all citizens.
