While higher costs for emergency care are expected, many practices charge 200–300% more for routine procedures such as blood tests and IV fluids. These costs place owners under severe financial pressure, sometimes forcing them to surrender or euthanise pets. With many dogs/cats having to be given up or just abandoned on the streets.
