We want the Government to allow motorcycles of any original power to be safely restricted to 35 kW for A2 riders, removing the “double power” rule. All restrictions should be verifiable and meet safety standards, giving riders more choice, freedom, and safer progression.

Current A2 rules limit riders to fewer motorcycles – those up to 35kW or, with a fitted restrictor, up to 70kW – reducing choice and sometimes forcing illegal riding, which increases risk. Modern restriction systems can safely limit any bike to 35 kW, giving riders access to more motorcycles and safer technology like ABS and traction control. Updating the law will expand legal options and could help encourage responsible riding, support skill progression, and protect all road users.
