Introduce laws to require housing associations to pay their share of repairs in line with ownership; allow reasonable remortgaging; enforce low-cost staircasing timelines; limit rent increases; and ensure a clear, affordable route to sell. We believe this will make things fairer.

We believe shared ownership is leaving families trapped. Leaseholders pay 100% of repairs despite part ownership, face rising rents, and are blocked from remortgaging or buying more shares. Costly delays and restrictions can create debt and stress, especially for low-income households. We feel this system lacks fairness and accountability. Reform is needed to protect residents, prevent exploitation, and restore shared ownership as a genuine, affordable path to home ownership.
