DLA decisions are made by non-medical staff (unless at the tribunal stage) and we believe this can lead to unfair outcomes. We are concerned that some children's complex needs can be underestimated.
Including medical professionals at the initial stage could ensure fairer, accurate decisions and reduce stressful appeals for families. We believe the DLA system is unfair, with decisions made by those lacking medical understanding, leading to inaccurate assessments. We think the system adds emotional strain to already overwhelmed carers and more medical involvement is essential to ensure fair, accurate decisions from the start.
