Milestones

Require highway authorities to install higher and more secure bridge railings to reduce the risk of people accessing dangerous edges, to increase patrols and monitoring at known high-risk locations, and to introduce preventative measures such as signage and support points.

Too many lives are being lost at known locations. Simple physical barriers and increased presence have been shown to reduce incidents and give people time to reconsider and seek help. This is not just about restriction, but prevention—protecting vulnerable people while wider mental health support is improved. Requiring action now can save lives.
