Milestones

Pass a law to end the practice of seasonal clock changes and commit to a stable, consistent time that does not changes with the seasons. The Government should adopt a permanent, fixed time year-round, either GMT or BST, and scrap the twice-yearly seasonal clock change.

We believe the clock change causes real harm to public health. Research links the spring transition to increased rates of heart attacks, strokes, and sleep disruption. The original justification for Daylight Saving Time was to reduce energy consumption for industrial purposes, which we feel is no longer relevant to modern life. We believe flexible working, modern lighting, and 24-hour industry have made it obsolete. Many countries have already abolished the clock change. We feel it is time the UK did the same.
