Review council tax banding rules for shared ownership homes so it reflects the actual share owned or the resident’s ability to pay, instead of full market value, to ensure fairness and affordability for thousands of residents in London.

Thousands of shared ownership residents in London, including young families and key workers, are paying excessive council tax based on full property value even though they only own a fraction. Many struggle to cover bills, mortgage, and daily costs. Parliament should ensure council tax reflects what people actually own and can reasonably afford.
