Milestones

Review and reform care and support for young hysterectomy patients, including setting national standards for full, evidence-based information on hysterectomy risks, benefits, alternatives, as well as mandatory pre-operative counselling and access to specialist care and multidisciplinary teams.

There should also be structured, long-term follow-up support including hormonal, physical & mental health support. We call on the UK Government to improve care for women offered hysterectomy for endometriosis and adenomyosis. Many are not fully informed of long-term risks, alternatives, or ongoing symptoms. We urge a review and reforms like mandatory pre-operative counselling, clear information for informed consent, and structured post-operative follow-up including physical, hormonal, and mental health support. Women deserve safe, informed choices and consistent long-term care.
