Fully subsidise core dog vaccinations so that no dog misses out from them and suffers from preventable and fatal diseases. Although charities offer subsidies to those eligible, the subsidies remain limited in supply.
According to BSAVA, in 2023, it was estimated around 20% of dogs were unvaccinated - which leaves hundreds of thousands of dogs prone to illnesses. It currently costs up to £100 for dog owners to vaccinate their dogs with core vaccines and around £60 for annual boosters. If the government subsidises core vaccinations for dogs, it may mean no dogs would miss out and suffer from preventable illnesses (e.g. leptospirosis).
