Milestones

Commission an independent review into retail price margins on essentials. The review should compare actual supplier costs against retail prices to identify how much of the final cost is due to inflation versus retailer markups.

The review should investigate implementing statutory margin caps to prevent profiteering on basics. We believe the Government should stop retailers from driving costs beyond official inflation rates. We feel we are being price-gouged on fuel, milk, baby food, and meds. We demand a review into "greedflation" and the wholesale-to-shelf spread. During WWII, the Government set a precedent by managing rations to ensure survival for all. We believe that same duty must apply now. We believe we need statutory margin caps to ensure profiteering is illegal. No one should be outpriced on basics while some retailers report record profits.
