Remove the right for parents to inflict unnecessary ear piercing on children too young to care for the piercings themselves or have an educated opinion in the matter. Babies as young as a week old are having their ears pierced.
Introduce a minimum age to an appropriate age of 12. Where children are of secondary school age and can make the decision themselves with parental agreement. Remove the ability for parents to take their new born babies and toddlers to have their ears pierced for no benefit to the child at all. It causes disruption in school with having to take earrings out for PE lessons and increases the risk of infections and accidents for the child.
