Milestones

International graduates who secure roles aligned with their field of study should receive a five-year post-study work visa to support skills retention and the economy. Those not in relevant roles would remain on the current two-year Graduate Route.

This proposal links post-study visas to relevant employment, encouraging graduates to use their skills in the UK economy. We believe it helps address labour shortages, supports SMEs without sponsorship costs, and boosts UK education appeal. A five-year visa promotes stability, economic contribution, and career growth, while motivating students to align studies with workforce needs. We believe that the UK Government consider this proposal as part of ongoing reviews of the Graduate Route.
