We want the Government to introduce enforceable time limits for CICA claims, require early evidence requests, apply balanced deadlines to both applicants and CICA, publish clear processing time data, and review oversight of cases exceeding stated targets.
Many applicants to the Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority experience prolonged delays and unclear timelines. While claimants must meet strict deadlines, CICA operates mainly under non-binding targets, meaning cases can take years to resolve. We believe introducing enforceable time limits and greater transparency would improve fairness, accountability, and confidence in a scheme intended to support victims of violent crime.
