Milestones

We want the Government to retroactively cap tuition fees at £3,000 for all Plan 2 loans and Plan 5 loans. We call for all balances to be recalculated to this level, with the excess principal and all associated interest cancelled to restore financial fairness to an entire generation.

In our view, fees of £9k+ created a 'debt trap.' With fees rising to £9,790 in 2026 and repayment thresholds frozen until 2030, we believe this has become a lifelong stealth tax. We think this debt prevents home ownership and damages mental health. We call on the Government to correct this injustice, and think that recalculating debt to the £3k level provides a fairer start for graduates and addresses the sustainability crisis in higher education funding.
