We believe that in order to meet government housing targets and protect greenfield land, the government should legislate to ensure that local councils are bound by law to develop housing on brownfield sites.

In our view, green spaces are under threat from unscrupulous developers while at the same time brownfield sites are abandoned and undeveloped. We therefore think local councils must be legally bound to develop such sites for housing. Brownfield sites are often a blight on the surrounding community, developing them could have multiple benefits including protecting green spaces.
