I want the UK Government to require all schools to begin at 9am nationwide. I believe this would create safer, less rushed mornings and allow time for breakfast and travel, and this policy would support students’ health, improve learning conditions and create a fair standard across all schools.
I feel that school in the UK should start at 9am to match teenagers’ natural sleep cycles. Research, such as the Sleep Foundation’s studies on adolescent sleep, shows later starts improve focus, attendance and academic results, while reducing stress and tiredness. I believe a 9am start would support better mental health, safer journeys and more effective learning, helping students achieve their full potential.
