The Government plans to make a deal to align closer to the EU Single Market’s standards for food and drink. There are reports that the bill would enable any subsequent EU alignment to be enacted under secondary legislation with less parliamentary scrutiny than primary legislation.

We believe this planned deal is a thinly-veiled attempt to undermine the will of the people who voted for Brexit in 2016. We think it is undemocratic and is the first step in getting Britain back into the EU Common Market and all its regulation.
