Milestones

We call on the UK Government to introduce mandatory country-of-origin labelling and percentage share origin for all honey sold in the UK. We request stronger enforcement against honey adulteration, ensuring that products diluted with non-honey sweeteners are not marketed as pure honey.

As part of updated EU labelling rules, new honey labelling and composition requirements will apply from 2026. We wish that similar measures be implemented in the UK, 1) to protect bees, which are essential pollinators, supporting biodiversity and food production, 2) to protect consumers from fraud by preventing misleading labelling, and 3) to support UK beekeepers.
