Require all primary and secondary schools to provide SEN-friendly menus. Current menus can be overwhelming, with complex language and unfamiliar choices. Menus should use simple language, visuals, clear allergens, and consistent layouts to reduce stress and support independence.
Many pupils with SEN, including autism and sensory processing difficulties, struggle with current school menus. This can cause anxiety and exclusion at lunchtime. SEN-friendly menus would improve accessibility, confidence, and ensure all pupils can make informed, comfortable food choices.
