I want the Government to listen to what I believe is an overwhelming feeling in schools catering that the proposed changes (made in April 2026) would be highly detrimental to an already broken school meals service.

School meals represent 35% of a child's lunch & evening meal intake and Fish & Chip Friday (one of the issues) is the best day of the week for pupils, schools & caterers. We think removing fat fryers will dramatically reduce uptake in primary and reduce revenues in secondary. In our view, the school commercial catering model and funding are already broken. When the fryers go, how will secondary schools deliver 800 (25% less) meals in 45 min? The govt won’t pay for additional ovens. The biggest travesty of my lifetime.
