We ask the UK Government to introduce stricter penalties for excessive vehicle noise, including modified loud exhaust systems and unnecessary use of car horns during night hours. Excessive noise from vehicles is a growing problem in many communities across the UK.
Modified exhaust systems and anti-social driving behaviour often produce noise levels that disturb residents, disrupt sleep, and negatively impact mental wellbeing. Similarly, the misuse of vehicle horns late at night adds to unnecessary noise pollution. We feel current enforcement measures and fines are not sufficient to deter repeat offenders. Many individuals continue to modify vehicles or engage in disruptive behaviour without facing meaningful consequences.
