We want the Government to review current child car seat law to strengthen it. We believe the current law is derived from outdated research. Recent research has suggested that the law should be updated, better protecting children on every journey.

A review should include: 1. improving standardised safety grading 2. making extended rear-facing compulsory until a seat is genuinely outgrown 3. When extended rear-facing car seat is outgrown, a high-back booster to be used until they are at least 150cm tall 4. School and commercial trips to use high-back boosters. Extended rear-facing car seats can offer better protection in a crash. High Back Boosters provide a better seat belt fit and more protection from side impact. We feel there is a lack of understanding of these benefits among the general public, including parents and care givers.
