Fund community-led mental health services, supporting people and their families to have autonomy over their own care. We believe that funding community initiatives can help prevent the systemic failures that lead to mental health issues.
We think the UK mental healthcare model is broken, and some who need urgent care are experiencing punishment when requiring help. Poverty is a significant factor affecting mental health, with people from the Global Majority more likely to live in poverty in the UK. On top of that, Black people in the UK are 4x more likely to be sectioned. Care shouldn’t be based on who you are. We believe we need a community-led healthcare system, with additional support for the most vulnerable, to prevent sectioning.
