Cap costs for commercial tenants by requiring landlords to limit electricity resale rates at Ofgem’s Maximum Resale Price, ensure transparent and challengeable service charges, ban hidden building insurance commissions, and establish a Commercial Tenant Tribunal for dispute resolution.

Commercial tenants have fewer legal protections than residential tenants. In our view, landlords can charge any electricity rate they choose, profit from inflated building insurance commissions, and issue unjustified service charges. The only recourse is civil court, inaccessible for most small businesses. We therefore call for a cap on electricity rates, a transparency requirement for service charges and building insurance commissions alongside a Commercial Tenant Tribunal.
