We call on the Government to launch an independent inquiry into the family court system regarding their handling of domestic abuse allegations.
We are asking for the inquiry to include: Investigating decisions made in domestic abuse-related family court cases to identify failures in protecting victims and children. Mandatory evidence-based trauma training for all judges and professionals whose assessments influence court outcomes. A full review of the welfare checklist to prioritise child and adult safety over the presumption of contact with an abusive parent.
