We call on the Government to provide funding for local authorities to urgently expand access to affordable on-street electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure, particularly for residents living in flats and properties without off-street parking.
At present, many EV owners without private parking must rely on public or car park chargers. These options are often significantly more expensive per kWh than home charging tariffs available to those with driveways. We feel this creates a clear inequality: households with private parking benefit from cheaper, more convenient overnight charging, while flat residents are forced to pay higher costs and face limited availability.
