The Government should require ICBs to offer IVF to couples, including those who have children from previous relationships. I want to express my concern and distress that some ICBs who offer IVF, do not let couples who have previous children access it, even if the child is from a past relationship.

I think it is unfair that some people who do not have children of their own are being denied the opportunity to experience pregnancy and motherhood due to factors entirely outside of their control. While I understand that eligibility criteria exist, this fails to recognise individual circumstances. One partner’s previous parenthood does not change the others’ medical need for fertility treatment, nor does it lessen the emotional impact of infertility on someone as an individual.
