Milestones

The government should immediately ban the sale and promotion of glasses that contain recording capability. The government should explore using existing laws, such as RIPA, GDPR, DPA to take immediate action, whilst beginning the process of new legislation.

Smart glasses allow the recording of others without their knowledge or consent and the uploading of this content to the internet. We believe this violates GDPR law and the DPA 2018. There are already reported cases, including unsuspecting women being livestreamed to the internet. AI capabilities allow people to 'dox' others, in real time, to create an inhospitable environment in our towns and spaces, fostering a climate of fear and menace, especially for vulnerable groups, including children.
